Miami men's basketball will have two staffers involved with The Bahamas men's national team during a crucial FIBA World Cup qualifying window.

Assistant Director of Player Development Dame Wall has been named an assistant coach for The Bahamas national team. Wall joins a program that already has a strong Hurricanes connection through LJ Rose, Miami's general manager and The Bahamas national team general manager.

Rose has worked with The Bahamas national team since June 2022, when former head coach Chris DeMarco brought him aboard as director of operations. He now serves as the program's general manager while holding the same title with Miami men's basketball.

Wall's appointment adds another Miami voice to the Bahamas operation as the team tries to advance through the first round of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup Americas Qualifiers. The Bahamas named Kentucky assistant Mikhail McLean its new head coach on June 10, replacing DeMarco and taking over a program that came within one win of reaching the 2024 Olympics.

The Bahamas opened the final qualifying window with a 123-74 rout of Jamaica on July 3, moving to 2-3 in Group B. VJ Edgecombe led the way with 26 points, nine rebounds and five steals as The Bahamas moved into second place behind unbeaten Canada, which is 5-0 and has already secured a second-round berth. Jamaica is also 2-3, while Puerto Rico is 1-4. The Bahamas will host Puerto Rico on July 6, with the top three teams in the group advancing to the second round.

Wall joined Miami as a graduate assistant in June 2023 and was promoted to assistant director of player development.

The Philadelphia native also worked with Impact Basketball during a 2024 internship that included NBA pre-draft workouts. Before moving into coaching, Wall played point guard at West Chester from 2020 through 2023 and helped the program win a PSAC East title.

Mercer assistant Nashad Mackey was also named to the national-team staff after previously coaching The Bahamas during Olympic qualifying in 2024 and World Cup and AmeriCup qualifying in 2025.
