Miami is now No. 5 in The Associated Press Top 25 college football poll. The Hurricanes climbed two spots on Sunday after a 77-7 win over Florida A&M and a weekend that saw both Ohio State and Oregon lose.
Texas is the new No. 1 following a 24-23 comeback against the Buckeyes, Georgia stayed at No. 2, Notre Dame stayed at No. 3 and Indiana moved up one place to No. 4.

Miami enters top 5 in the rankings
The Hurricanes were already viewed as a top-five team, but the Canes needed some help in front of them. Texas rallying from 20 points down in the fourth quarter against No. 1 Ohio State and Oregon losing 39-31 at Oklahoma State (a team that had dropped 21 straight games against FBS opponents) certainly was the help Miami needed to move up.
Ohio State fell five places to No. 6, Oregon plunged 15 spots to No. 21, and Miami and Notre Dame are on a collision course for a top-five matchup later this season.
Miami received four votes for No. 1, Indiana got three, Notre Dame had one, Georgia had three and Texas got 56.
Elsewhere in the AP Poll
LSU comes in at No. 7, followed by Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Alabama to complete the top 10.
The ACC still has four teams in the Top 25: SMU is No. 16 after beating Florida State and then UC Davis, Louisville is No. 23 after a 41-38 loss to Ole Miss and a 59-13 win over Villanova, and Virginia is No. 25 after routing NC State and Norfolk State.
Virginia Tech received 11 votes and Pitt got one vote.
Michigan is the only new team in the poll, returning at No. 19 after a 17-10 win over Oklahoma. Washington dropped out.
