EDGE rusher KJ Green, one of the top prospects in the 2027 cycle, trimmed his recruitment to 12 schools this past week, and Miami made the cut. Green's list: Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M and USC. The announcement was first reported by Rivals/On3's Hayes Fawcett.

Green, measured at 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, is rated No. 44 nationally, the No. 6 EDGE and the No. 4 player in Georgia in the On3 Industry Comparison. He plays at Stephenson High in metro Atlanta.
While Miami is in the top group, Green told Rivals/On3 that five programs have begun to separate at this stage: South Carolina, Alabama, USC, Texas A&M and Nebraska. USC and Nebraska have hosted him this fall, and he's logged recent stops around the region as his process accelerates.
For Miami, simply staying in this fight matters. The Hurricanes have a Pro Football Hall of Famer leading their edge room in defensive line coach Jason Taylor, a development pitch that routinely resonates with pass rushers. Taylor remains on Mario Cristobal's radar heading into 2026 as the staff continues to be active in elite DL recruitments. But for now, the Hurricanes are in the picture — and chasing a cluster of SEC and Big Ten powers that, per Green, hold the early edge.
Miami's 2027 recruiting class
Miami's 2027 class features four commitments — WR Ah'Mari Stevens, S Jaylyn Jones, EDGE Demarcus Deroche and OT Zaquan Linton — and sits inside the national top 10. Rivals/On3 lists the Hurricanes No. 10 nationally and No. 1 in the ACC with a 75% blue-chip rate, and 247Sports also slots the class No. 10 in its Composite. Recently, DB Kenton Dopson III reclassed to Miami's 2026 recruiting cycle which is now ranked No. 12 in the nation by Rivals/On3.
