Miami Hurricanes make top 5 for 4-star linebacker from Tennessee

One of the nation’s top juniors just put the Hurricanes in his final list of schools. Omarii Sanders, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound linebacker from Franklin Road Academy (Nashville, TN), announced a top five of Miami, Tennessee, Georgia, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt, per Hayes Fawcett. The 2027 blue-chipper is billed as a top-three linebacker nationally by Rivals Industry.

247Sports ranks Sanders the No. 29 overall prospect and the No. 2 linebacker in the 2027 cycle. Sanders has game trips lined up to Tennessee, Texas A&M, Miami and Vanderbilt, and he’s expected back in Knoxville for Georgia–Tennessee. Tennessee/Vanderbilt would be the logical fit since Sanders is from the area, but who knows? Maybe how the Vols perform against the Bulldogs could change things. Or how Vandy plays South Carolina. On the same day, Miami has a chance to take care of a ranked USF team and Texas A&M goes on the road to face Notre Dame.

Along with the five finalists, Sanders has offers from Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Texas, Auburn, Florida State and more. Last season he had 27 total tackles, 1 interception, and 17 receiving yards, per MaxPreps.

• Kenton Dopson — CB, Miami Norland (FL) — committed 3/13/25. No. 44 overall, No. 6 CB per On3 Industry. Currently he is entertaining UNC and might be considering a flip/reclassification to Class of 2026.
• Ah’Mari Stevens — WR, Miami Edison (FL) — Last season at St. Thomas Aquinas (before he transferred to Edison) Stevens logged 44 receptions for 550 yards (12.5 YPC) per MaxPreps.
• DeMarcus DeRoche — TE/ATH, Cardinal Gibbons (FL) — Had 350 receiving yards, 5 TD on offense and 7 sacks on defense.
• Jaylyn Jones — S, Davie Western (FL) — committed 6/23/25. In 2024 he had 82 tackles, 6 TFL, 3 sacks, 13 PBUs, 1 FF, 3 INT.
• Zaquan Linton — OT, Palm Beach Central (FL) — committed 7/8/25. Listed 6-6/290.
