Wonderful "Champ" Monds IV, the highly touted Vero Beach (Fla.) signal-caller, has set an official visit to Miami beginning April 11.

Monds has also lined up visits with Florida (March 26), Florida State (March 28), Ohio State (April 4) and Notre Dame (April 18).

Monds is listed at 6-foot-2 and 224 pounds. In the 247Sports Composite, Monds sits at No. 254 nationally, No. 17 at quarterback, and No. 28 in Florida for the class of 2027.

Monds was previously a 2028 prospect and ranked as the No. 1 QB in Rivals' early 2028 cycle, before reclassifying to the 2027 class.

Monds completed nearly 70% of his passes as a freshman while throwing for 2,234 yards and 23 touchdowns with five interceptions. He also added 502 rushing yards and nine more scores on the ground.

Miami, Florida, Florida State and UCF were among the programs that offered back in June 2024, before Monds had even played a varsity snap. Since then, the recruitment has gone national, with Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Ohio State and others involved.

Monds' grandfather played at Nebraska and was a first-team All-American defensive back in 1976, while his father played in the Atlanta Braves organization. He also has two uncles who played college football with one reaching the NFL.

Miami will try to sell quarterback development and a clear path to winning at the top of the sport. Shannon Dawson is entering his fourth season as Miami's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2026. His commitment to the program will be crucial in convincing young prospects to come to Miami.

Miami currently has four commitments in its 2027 class: Ah'Mari Stevens, Jaylyn Jones, Zaquan Linton and Demarcus Deroche. Landing an elite quarterback prospect to pair with that early core would be huge.
