The Coaches Poll was released and the Miami Hurricanes have come in at No. 10 on the list. Miami (No. 10), Clemson (No. 6), and SMU (No. 16) are the ACC’s entries on the list.

The Texas Longhorns earned their first-ever preseason No. 1 ranking in the Coaches Poll, narrowly edging out defending national champion Ohio State, 28–20 in first-place votes. Over the past decade, only one preseason No. 1 (2017 Alabama) captured the national title. Their opener against Ohio State, a No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown, could prove a defining early litmus test for both programs.

Conference representation was led by the SEC with nine teams ranked in the preseason poll, followed by the Big Ten (six teams), the Big 12 (five), and the ACC (three). The Miami Hurricanes make a notable appearance at No. 10 in the rankings after bringing in a strong transfer portal class that includes former Georgia QB Carson Beck.

With Mario Cristobal at the helm, the Canes have steadily improved and got close to making the CFP last season. It was QB Cam Ward's breakout season that eventually led to him being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to the Tennessee Titans. Miami has multiple preseason top 25 teams on their schedule: No. 5 Notre Dame, No. 16 SMU and No. 17 Florida. If those rankings hold at the time of play — or by the time to the selection committee makes their choices — the goal for Miami is to go 2-1 (at least) in those games.
