Miami is not ranked in this week's Associated Press Top 25 men's basketball poll, but the Hurricanes have gained some ground.

In the AP poll released Monday, Miami received four points in the voting and landed in the "others receiving votes" section, listed 10 spots outside the Top 25. That puts the Hurricanes around No. 35 nationally, sitting behind Utah State (six points) and just ahead of Georgia (three).

The Hurricanes went 1-1 in their last two games, beating Stanford 79-70 on Jan. 28 before dropping a one-point game to California, 86-85, on Jan. 31.

In the Stanford win, Miami trailed well into the second half before making a late run. Malik Reneau scored 20 points and Tre Donaldson added 18, and Miami finished it off down the stretch.

Against Cal, Miami put itself in position to win, but the Golden Bears made plays on both ends of the court to seal the game late. Reneau led Miami with 24 points, with Shelton Henderson (16) and Donaldson (14) also in double figures.

The Hurricanes are 17-5 overall and 6-3 in ACC play, sitting fifth in the conference standings as of Monday. The conference race is crowded at the top, with Duke out front and several teams bunched behind it, which means Miami has plenty of chances to climb.

Reneau has been the headliner for Miami, leading the team with 19.9 points per game. Donaldson has been the engine in the backcourt with 6.1 assists per game, and Henderson has been efficient with 60.8% shooting from the floor.

Miami goes to Boston College on Feb. 7, then gets a home game against No. 14 North Carolina on Feb. 10. After that comes a road trip to NC State on Feb. 14 and another road game at No. 18 Virginia on Feb. 21.
