Zyron Forstall's recruitment continues to accelerate, and Miami is squarely in the race for the 2027 five-star edge rusher. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound IMG Academy standout, originally from New Orleans (Jesuit), is widely regarded as a top-three national prospect in the Rivals Industry Ranking and recently told Rivals he expects to narrow his list to five schools after the season, with LSU and USC certain to make the cut.
Miami is among the teams that are competing for the final three spots in the top five, and it does seem like the Hurricanes have a solid case.
Forstall visited Hard Rock Stadium for Miami's season-opening win over Notre Dame on Aug. 31, his first trip to Coral Gables. The Hurricanes beat the sixth-ranked Irish 27–24, and Forstall spent time with the staff afterward
LSU remains a major contender. A Louisiana native who grew up an LSU fan, Forstall said the Tigers have intensified their pursuit since his move to Florida and that his relationship with edge rushers coach Kevin Peoples is getting stronger. He plans to attend LSU-Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Nov. 8 as part of his fall visits.
USC has also earned traction. Forstall cited the appeal of co-defensive coordinator/defensive line coach Eric "Coach Henny" Henderson's track record and scheme. He visited the Coliseum on Oct. 11, when USC beat Michigan 31–13.
From Miami's perspective, the pitch is obvious, and they will need to make it clear for as long as they are in the race. The Hurricanes' defensive line is led by Pro Football Hall of Famer Jason Taylor, now in his third season coaching Miami's front, which continues to be a point of emphasis under Mario Cristobal. That NFL-to-college development pipeline — and the time the staff invested during Forstall's visit could come in clutch for when he decided to narrow his list.
Forstall also went to Texas A&M's matchup against Mississippi State on Oct. 4.
