The Miami Hurricanes made the top 15 for Casey Barner, the No. 1 safety and No. 6 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite for the 2028 class.

Barner, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound recruit from McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia, released his top 15 on Monday with Miami joining Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC, Georgia, Indiana, Alabama, Texas, LSU, Oregon, Notre Dame, Auburn, Texas Tech and Oklahoma.

The Hurricanes have already had Barner on campus. He attended Miami's Legends Camp earlier this month, giving the staff a chance to work with one of the most complete defensive backs in the cycle.

Barner is from Georgia, and the Bulldogs have an obvious geographic advantage in a recruitment that has been building for years. On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine has Georgia as the early leader, though Barner has not announced a commitment date.

In his freshman season at Douglass, Barner recorded 23 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble in eight games. He added 111 rushing yards and three touchdowns, plus four receptions for 58 yards and another score.

In his sophomore year at McEachern, Barner opened the 2025 season with 341 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns in a 50-17 win over Walton.

Barner scored on a 98-yard kickoff return, a long receiving touchdown and a 69-yard fake-punt run while adding 138 punt-return yards on seven returns. He also had two solo tackles and a pass breakup in the win. He earned first-team MaxPreps Sophomore All-America honors for his impact on offense, defense and special teams.

McEachern finished with its first undefeated regular season since 2019 and his two-way ability will be something to watch as his recruitment progresses. Miami's staff will have their work cut out for them if they are going to secure Barner's commitment.
