It's always nice to know that the Miami Hurricanes are living rent-free in the heads of Notre Dame fans across the country and that was on display yesterday when the Fighting Irish took down mighty Rice, 52-0.
The fans in South Bend weren't thinking about their team's beat down of the Owls. They weren't thinking about next week's game against Michigan State. Nope, they were thinking about 'The U' and those thoughts weren't very nice.

Oh? Back at 'cha Notre Dame. The feeling is mutual. Damn shame we have to wait until November 7 to get this show on the road. I didn't hear any of that at Hard Rock Stadium last Thursday? I wonder why that is. Maybe it's because Miami fans are thinking a little bigger or at least they should be (I'm looking at you, Michael Irvin!). Beating Notre Dame was so last year.
Notre Dame had better bring that same energy on November 7
I get why Notre Dame fans are so upset with Miami. It must've stunk to know that a deserving team like the 2025 Fighting Irish wasn't in the CFP 12-team bracket because they lost to the Hurricanes. They had to shun a bowl invite and sit at home and watch Miami play Texas A&M (and win), then go to the Cotton Bowl and end Ohio State's quest for a national title, and then go to the Fiesta Bowl and end Ole Miss' dream season. It's not important what happened after that. Just know that all the while Notre Dame players and fans were sitting home wishing it could have been them.
The funny thing is...that the Hurricanes were way more beatable than this one. And last year, Notre Dame caught Miami early. This first week of the season. Long before all the kinks were worked out. This year, the Irish will see the Hurricanes when they are peaking. They will see them when Darian Mensah is the runaway favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, when Mark Fletcher is getting stronger with each carry, when that pass rush is jumping and the young players in the secondary have grown up.
November 7 is going to be a magical night in South Bend, Indiana. The atmosphere is going to be incredible. Notre Dame will have a partisan crowd trying to will them to get payback for the way Miami left them wondering what might have been in 2025. But that crowd alone won't be enough. The Fighting Irish will have to get the job done on the field and all the chanting in the world isn't going to stop the Hurricanes from doing whatever it takes to leave with the W.
