During his introductory press conference on Monday, new Miami head coach Jai Lucas stated the Hurricanes might need 13 new players for next season. Miami has to replace its entire frontcourt from the 2024-25 roster as all the Miami centers and forwards have completed their eligibility.

North Florida 6-8 freshman forward Josh Harris is entering the transfer portal per multiple reports. Harris was an unranked prospect out of Pembroke Pines Charter School in the 2024 class. Starting all 30 games for North Florida as a true freshman, Harris averaged 13.4 points per game, 7.1 rebounds and shot 55.7 percent from the field.

Travis Branham of 247Sports expects Harris to be a four-star transfer. Harris led North Florida in rebounding and was their second-leading scorer in 2024-25. Harris was one of North Florida's most consistent players in last season with four double-doubles, scored in double figures 17 times and five 20-point games.

In his only game against a power conference program, Harris had 22 points and seven rebounds on 8-10 from the floor in a 105-93 loss at Georgia Tech in November. Harris had 20 points and nine rebounds on 9-11 from the floor in a 78-73 win at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville who qualified for the NCAA Tournament.

In North Florida's only game in the Atlantic Sun Tournament, Harris scored 12 points and had eight rebounds on 5-6 from the field in a 90-69 loss to Austin Peay. North Florida finished 15-17 this season and 8-10 in the Atlantic Sun. The transfer portal will open officially on March 24.

At 6'8 and 220 pounds, Harris has good size and is a good three-point shooter for a power forward. Harris would be a rare player from South Florida to play for Miami. Guard A.J. Staton-McCray who transferred from Samford last spring was the only player from South Florida on the 2024-25 Miami roster.
