Currently 11th nationally in the 247Sports 2026 composite class rankings, Miami is on the verge of signing its third top 10 class in four recruiting cycles under Mario Cristobal. Cristobal was hired in December 2021 and salvaged the 16th-ranked 2022 class in the 247Sports composite rankings less than a month after being hired.
Miami is 0.18 points behind Michigan in the 247Sports 2026 composite class rankings to move into the top 10 nationally. Cristobal and the Miami staff signed the seventh-ranked 2023 class. Miami signed the fourth-best class in 2024 and was 14th in the 2025 247Sports composite rankings.
The 2026 Miami class is led by five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell. Cantwell is the only five-star commit in the 2026 Miami class. Miami has 17 four-star prospects committed to its 2026 class and three three-stars. Miami got closer to passing Michigan with a commitment from four-star safety J.J. Dunnigan on Sunday.
Dunnigan became the highest-ranked defensive player in the 2026 Miami class with his commitment on Sunday. Dunningan is the second safety to commit to Miami in the 2026 class. Four-star safety Cortez Redding committed to the 2026 Miami class in July.

Miami is on the verge of bursting into the top 10. Defensive lineman Isaac Chukwurah, a Penn State commit and edge rusher DeAnthony Lafayette, have had crystal balls logged for them to Miami from 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn and Gaby Urrutia from Inside the U.
Urrutia also logged a crystal ball for four-star safety Blake Stewart to Miami on October 30. Stewart decommitted from Clemson on October 27. Miami has always closed recruiting classes strongly under Cristobal. The Hurricanes have also frequently flipped prospects late in the cycle.
Cristobal is widely regarded as one of the best closers in recruiting. Expect Miami to sign at least one of the above three players crystal balled to the Hurricanes. It would not be surprising with how Miami classes have finished under Cristobal if they sign all three. Miami should finish with another top 10 class in 2026.
