Miami Is The Top ACC Team In The ESPN Football Power Index Entering Week 11

Despite the loss on Saturday at SMU, Miami remains the top ACC team in the ESPN Football Power Index

Miami is 12th overall and the top ACC team in the ESPN Football Power Index entering week 12. The Hurricanes are the top team in the conference following a chaotic weekend of games. In addition to SMU beating Miami, Georgia Tech was upset at North Carolina State.

The loss at SMU significantly impacted the projections for Miami in its last four games. Miami is now projected to finish with 9.4 wins and 2.6 losses in the ESPN FPI simulations. The FPI projects Miami with a 48.3 percent chance to win out, a 1.7 percent chance to win the ACC and 14.2 percent chance to earn a College Football Playoff berth.

Miami is 18th in strength of record, 29th in strength of schedule, the 64th in remaining SOS. seventh in game control and seventh in average in-game win probability. The Hurricanes are 15th in overall efficiency, 30th in offensive efficiency, 15th in defensive efficiency and 55th in special teams efficiency.

The results of week 10 shuffled the favorites in the ACC. Virginia has a 30.9 percent chance to win the ACC per the ESPN FPI entering week 11. Georgia Tech is second with a 21.5 percent chance to win the ACC, followed by Louisville with 18.7 percent chance, Duke at 16.2 percent and SMU at 7.3 percent.

Virginia also has the best projection among ACC teams to earn a CFP berth at 28.8 percent. Georgia Tech is at 22.8 percent and Louisville is at 21.2 percent ahead of Miami. Miami fell to 2-2 in the ACC with the loss to SMU and is in seventh place in the conference.

Miami is 18th as one of four ACC teams ranked in the national polls. Virginia is 12th nationally as the 12th-ranked team. Sixteenth-ranked Georgia Tech and 14th-ranked Louisville are the only other ACC teams in the national polls.
