The Miami Hurriances have added a transfer center for the third straight season, with standout James Brockermeyer from TCU committing to the Hurricanes on Friday per multiple reports. As with Matt Lee from Central Florida in 2023 and Zach Carpenter this past season, Brockermeyer will have one season of eligibility remaining.

Brockermeyer is the son of former nine-year NFL offensive tackle Blake Brockermeyer. James Brockermeyer signed with Alabama as the 194th prospect, 13th interior offensive lineman and 32nd player in Texas in the 2021 class out of Fort Worth, All Saints Episcopal.

Brockmeyer's twin brother Tommy, who was a top 10 player across the board in the 2021 class, also originally signed with Alabama in the 2021 class. Tommy Brockmeyer had to medically retire from football in March. James Brockermeyer will arrived to Miami as the No. 1 interior lineman from the portal according to On3.

Brockermeyer joins a Miami OL with four players returning who started games in 2024. Left tackle Markel Bell, left guard Matthew McCoy, right guard Anez Cooper and right tackle Francis Mauigoa. Mauigoa, entering his third season as a full-time starter, and Brockermeyer project to give Miami one of the best OLs nationally.

Starting TCU center James Brockermeyer has committed to Miami

Per Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U, "In 814 snaps throughout 12 starts, the 6-foot-3.5, 300-pounder (Brockmeyer) allowed just one sack and eight quarterback pressures. He earned a strong 80.2 pass-blocking grade." Brockermeyer earned honorable mention All-Big XII in 2023 for a TCU team that finished 9-4.

Urrutia also reported the five projected starting OL for Miami in 2025 played 3,808 combined snaps during the 2024 season and allowed just 10 sacks combined. Miami finished 57th nationally in 2024 allowing 1.79 sacks per game. Miami was fourth nationally allowing 3.54 tackles per loss per game.

Behind the Miami OL, the Hurricanes finished seventh nationally averaging 5.67 yards per carry. With the experienced OL returning and running backs Mark Fletcher Jr. and Jordan Lyle back in 2025, Miami should continue to run the ball well in 2025.
