Miami will host Alabama on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the Watsco Center in the 2026 SEC/ACC Challenge. Tipoff time and television details will be announced later.

The matchup adds another strong game to a non-conference schedule that is starting to look like a serious challenge — and opportunity — for Lucas and company in Year 2 at the helm. Miami opens the season against Florida on Nov. 2 at Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, with that game set for 6 p.m. on ESPN2. One month later, the Hurricanes will get Alabama at home.

Miami to face Alabama at home next season

The Crimson Tide are one of the better programs in the SEC under Nate Oats and should arrive in Coral Gables with a squad ready to conquer.

Alabama's roster still has moving pieces, but the projected lineup for next year is built around Aden Holloway, Amari Allen, five-star wing Jaxon Richardson, Boise State transfer Drew Fielder and Kentucky transfer Brandon Garrison. The Crimson Tide reached the Sweet 16 last season before losing to Michigan.

The Hurricanes added Acaden Lewis from Villanova, Somtochukwu Cyril from Georgia, DeSean Goode from Robert Morris, Nick Dorn from Indiana, Brent Bland from Saint Peter's and Quin Berger from Bucknell through the transfer portal. They also bring back Shelton Henderson and Dante Allen while adding a top-15 freshman in Caleb Gaskins.

Henderson averaged 13.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists as a freshman, while Dante Allen averaged 6.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists.

Alabama is making its first trip to Coral Gables since 2015, when Miami beat the Crimson Tide 73-66 in the NIT. The teams have met four times, with Alabama leading the series 3-1. Their last meeting came on Nov. 28, 2021, when Alabama beat Miami 96-64 at the ESPN Events Invitational in Orlando.
