Miami lost a 3-1 lead in the top of the eighth before rallying with two in the bottom half of the inning to earn a 5-4 win over Florida Atlantic on Tuesday night. After FAU scored a run in the top of the first, Miami answered with single runs in the third sixth and seventh innings to take a 3-1 lead.
Florida Atlantic took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning with an RBI single from John Schroeder. Miami answered with a run scored on a wild pitch in the third inning. Dorian Gonzalez broke the tie in the sixth inning with a double that scored Max Galvin to give Miami a 2-1 lead.
A Jake Ogden solo home run in the seventh inning put Miami up 3-1. Brando Leroux doubled in the top of the eighth inning to cut the Miami lead to 3-2. Marshall Lipsey tripled home Leroux to tie the game at three. A Schroeder sacrifice fly gave FAU the lead heading to the bottom of the eighth.
Tanner Smith hit a sacrifice fly to score Galvin to tie the game at four. Evan Taveras doubled to score Gonzalez and Miami led 5-4. Brian Walters has not allowed a hit since moving to the bullpen in his last four appearances and he pitched a perfect ninth inning for his third save to give Miami their third straight win.

Reese Lumpkin pitched seven innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Alex Giroux retired four of the five batters he faced to improve to 5-1. Gonzalez had two hits in four at-bats with a run scored and and RBI and Galvin scored twice for Miami in the win.
Miami hosts Georgia Tech this weekend. Number three Georgia beat 13th-ranked Georgia Tech 5-2 at Truist Park on Tuesday night to end the Yellow Jackets three-game winning streak. Miami will go for its third consecutive series win this weekend after winning series at Pittsburgh and versus Duke the last two weekends.
