After going undrafted, Miami leading scorer Matthew Cleveland is signing with the Dallas Mavericks. Cleveland signed an undrafted free agent contract with Dallas, per Clutch Points. Dallas signed six undrafted free agents, with two on two-way contracts, one on an exhibit 10 contract and two on summer league contracts.
It appears Cleveland will have to earn his way onto the Dallas Summer League team with the hope of a good performance in Las Vegas gaining an invite to training camp with the Mavericks. The NBA Summer League starts on July 10 at the Thomas & Mack Center and Pavilion on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Cleveland averaged 17.6 points per game. 4.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists while shooting 51.1 percent from the floor, 38.2 percent on three-point attempts and 77.6 percent from the free throw line with an eFG percentage of 55.9. Cleveland is listed as one of four guards signed by Dallas who went undrafted.
One of the players Cleveland will have to compete with is former Miami guard Matt Cross, who played one season with Louisville, two with Massachusetts and his final year with SMU. Cross was on Miami during the 2020-21 season before Cleveland entered college at Florida State.

Dallas selected Cooper Flagg with the first overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft with the only slot they had this year. The corps for Dallas is a mix of young players with Flagg and center Dereck Lively, the 12th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft and veterans with Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson.
Cleveland is a versatile player who can score at all three levels and should be able to defend both guards and small forwards at 6'7 and 210 pounds, as listed on the Miami website. Other notable signings are former Miami guard Woogla Poplar with the Chicago Bulls and forward Norchad Omier with the Cleveland Cavaliers to Exhibit 10 contracts.
