The 35-25 South Florida win over UAB was the only outcome that caused movement in the State of Florida Power Rankings post-week eight. South Florida improved to 3-4 with the win and moved from sixth to eighth. Florida Atlantic and Florida International dropped one spot each with losses.

Miami has been the dominant team in Florida since its season-opening 41-17 win in Gainesville. Miami won its third consecutive tight game 52-45 at Louisville. First place in Florida meets last place when Miami hosts 1-6 Florida State on Saturday. Miami is a 20.5-point favorite per FanDuel.

Florida became the second-team in Florida with a winning record after a 48-20 win over Kentucky on Saturday. It was the most dominant win by the Gators this season and its second three-score victory in the SEC this season. Florida won 45-28 at Mississippi State on September 21. Florida has a bye this week.

Iowa State needed a touchdown with 30 seconds left to remain undefeated with a 38-35 win over Central Florida. Central Florida hosts 11th-ranked and undefeated BYU on Saturday. The Knights need three wins in their final five games to reach bowl eligibility.

South Florida ended a three-game losing streak with a 45-35 win over UAB. FAU plays at South Florida on Saturday in a game that will affect the State of Florida Power Rankings. FAU lost 38-24 to Texas-San Antonio on Saturday, dropping to 2-5 after their second consecutive loss.

Texas-El Paso gave FIU its third consecutive loss with a 30-21 win. FIU hosts 5-2 Sam Houston State on Tuesday night. Florida State lost its third straight game 23-16 at Duke on Friday night. Duke forced turnovers on three consecutive plays in the third quarter to overcome 180 total yards to beat Florida State.

With six wins in their first eight games, Miami is currently the only Florida team positioned for bowl eligibility. Florida, facing four consecutive games against top-20 opponents and the Florida State rivalry to close out the regular season, needs two more victories to secure a bowl bid.

Miami could be the only team to qualify for a bowl game this season. The ultimate goal for Miami this season is to qualify for the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff. Miami would earn a bye to the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff if they win the ACC Championship. CFP bowl games will be announced when the bracket is released.
