And the playmaker has a special message for Kirk Herbstreit and Joey Galloway

Michael Irvin isn't just going to stand by and watch the Miami Hurricanes get wronged without saying something,

The Miami legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer went on a 15-minute rant to air his frustrations with the College Football Playoff committee continuing to rank Miami behind Notre Dame despite the Hurricanes holding the head-to-head victory.

ESPN analysts feel the wrath of Irvin

Irvin's freewheeling diatribe is definitely NSFW, and he specifically mentions ESPN college football analysts Joey Galloway and Kirk Herbstreit as two people that clearly have an axe to grind with the Hurricanes.

We all know that Herbstreit is about as shameless of an SEC honk as there is in college football media, no matter how much he tries to deny it. He's basically become Paul Finebaum with better hair and a dog.

"Kirk Herbstreit was trying to discount...discount totally...the head-to-head matchup. He said 'at what point does head-to-head matchups stop counting'? They never stop counting!"
Michael Irvin

We've come to expect this sort of boot licking from Herbstreit. That's pretty much how he rolls, and it is what it is. But what the heck is Joey Galloway on? That guy was out there just talking about nothing last night and making zero sense.

Miami scored a late touchdown to beat Virginia Tech by 17. The Hurricanes led by double-digits, mostly 17 points, for the majority of that game and the 34-17 final score is probably more indicative of how the game was.

Galloway wants the beauty contest

It might make some sense that Galloway loves talking about the eye test because the Buckeye teams he was part of always looked the part until Michigan came rolling through town. So, in his mind, the games matter, but only if they fit the right narrative. Because, in his mind, Notre Dame looks good right now rolling over weak competition, the head-to-head game from Week 1 shouldn't have the effect that head-to-head results normally have.

"I don't care if the head-to-head matchup was in Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, Week 10..."
Michael Irvin

Irvin is fighting a losing battle here because once guys like Herbstreit and Galloway start shilling for the committee's bad decisions, they aren't going to stop. They don't care about taking a stand against these awful decisions and rewarding what happens on the field, it's about pushing the company line.
