Rutgers linebacker, Mohamed Toure, is planning on visiting the Miami campus on Thursday as he searches for a new home in the transfer portal. Toure stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 236 pounds. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Toure is a talented player who can get to the quarterback and add depth to the Hurricanes' linebacker room. Currently the starting linebackers for Miami could be a combination of the following: Popo Aguirre, Jaylin Alderman, Wesley Bissainthe, Bobby Pruitt and transfer Kamal Bonner. Toure could slot into that group and earn a starting spot by the beginning of next season.

The catch with Toure is that he is injury prone. Toure missed the entire 2022 season due to a torn ACL and then tore his ACL again in fall camp last year. He is from the high school class of 2019, so he would provide a level of experience a lot of players do not have. But, the injury concerns certainly remain a big question mark.

When he is on the field, Toure has shown the ability to produce. He began playing consistently in his sophomore season at Rutgers where he logged 20 total tackles, five tackles for loss, one interception, 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in nine games. In his true junior season (2021), he took another step recording 51 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and one fumble recovery in 13 games.

After tearing his ACL in 2022, Toure bounced back with his best season in college. In 2023, Toure registered 93 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble.

Toure has a connection to Miami's new defensive coordinator, Corey Hetherman. Hetherman was his linebackers coach from 2022-23 and the reunion could be beneficial for both parties. Toure could get his fresh start and fit into Hetherman's scheme while also help to bring the younger linebackers up to speed.

Toure recently visited Penn State and has also drawn interest from Florida State and Syracuse in addition to Miami. This is a move that seems likely to happen if the visit goes well.
