According to multiple reports, Isaiah Horton, who would have been Miami's leading returning receiver in 2025, is entering the transfer portal. Horton was third on Miami with 56 receptions for 616 yards and fourth with five touchdowns during the 2024 season. Horton will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Miami signed Horton in the 2022 class as the 372nd prospect, 56th wide receiver and 11th player in Tennessee out of Murfreesboro, Oakland. Horton redshirted as a freshman with Miami in 2022. Horton had 13 receptions for 168 yards and one TD for Miami as a redshirt freshman in 2023.

With Colbie Young transferring to Georgia after the 2023 season, Horton emerged as a reliable receiver for All-American quarterback Cam Ward behind Xavier Restrepo and Jacolby George. At 6'4 and 205 pounds after a productive season, Horton should be a highly sought after transfer.

Miami could be without its top four WRs entering the 2025 season. George and Restrepo have exhausted their eligibility and Sam Brown is weighing a decision to enter the NFL Draft. Miami has been busy hosting WRs in the transfer portal since it opened on December 9.

Miami signed 2024 four-star WRs Ny Carr, Chance Robinson and JoJo Trader as potential replacements for George and Horton and possibly Brown. Rising redshirt sophomore Ray Ray Joseph is expected to replace Restrepo as the starting slot receiver for Miami in 2025, depending on who the Hurricanes add through the transfer portal.

Replacing Horton's height will be difficult. Brown and Robinson are the second-tallest scholarship WRs on the Miami roster at 6'2. With Horton transferring, the freshmen should receive snaps in the Pop-Tarts bowl versus Iowa State behind Brown, George and Restrepo.

Horton has already received a projection from On3 that he will sign with Alabama. CaneSport reported that a deal between Alabama and Horton is imminent. Horton finishes his Miami career with 70 receptions for 790 yards and six touchdowns.
