Forward Timo Malovec has entered the transfer portal. He arrived in Coral Gables last spring as one of the more intriguing international additions and will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.

Malovec played in 33 games and made two starts during his lone season at Miami, averaging 4.2 points and 1.3 rebounds. He gave the Hurricanes some offensive flashes off the bench. He hit four 3-pointers in wins over Stetson, Southern Miss and ULM, scored a season-high 16 points against Southern Miss, handed out seven assists against ULM and helped spark Miami's comeback win over Stanford with two second-half threes.

The 6-foot-9 forward from Slovakia had spent the previous two seasons with Mega Superbet in the ABA League, where he averaged 6.1 points and 3.1 rebounds in 2024-25 while shooting 36.5% from 3-point range.

Malovec averaged 8.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists in the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket Qualifiers for Slovakia, and 16.4 points with 5.9 rebounds in the 2022 FIBA U18 European Championship Division B. Before coming to Miami, he had also entered the 2024 NBA draft process and later withdrew.

Malovec viewed college basketball through a professional lens after moving from Slovakia to Serbia at 17 and playing overseas before arriving in the United States. Miami's development pitch was the biggest reason he chose the Hurricanes. He also wanted a larger role than he had in Europe.

Freshman forward Salih Altuntas also entered the transfer portal after one season in Coral Gables. Both international signees are among the players that have left in the transfer portal for Miami.
