The Miami Hurricanes are living by the motto, "You can sleep when you're dead," after making an unexpected run to the National Championship game.
Despite reaching the biggest game of the year, the Canes and head coach Mario Cristobal haven't taken their foot off the gas, and are currently hot on the recruiting trail of an in-state four-star safety who has actually already committed to the Florida State Seminoles.
Mekhi Williams committed to the Noles in March of last year, but recently scheduled visits to Miami to see everything the program has to offer, and recently shared a really positive view of the team.
Mekhi Williams hasn't rueld out Miami entirely
"A lot of great people have walked in and out of there, and I wanna see what it's all about!" Williams told 247Sports' Gaby Urrutia.
Williams already visited the Canes last September, but another trip or two to Miami never hurt anybody, especially fresh off the Hurricanes' run through the College Football Playoff.
The young safety grew up in Ruskin, less than four hours from Coral Gables, and nearly four and a half hours from the Seminoles' home in Tallahassee. Why not stay closer to home and play for a program that actually competes for a national title year in and year out?
VIP: Blue-chip Florida State DB commit Mekhi Williams has a pair of visits locked in with Miami, including an official visit this summer.

Williams is the No. 11 safety in the class of 2027 and the No. 12 overall prospect from Florida in the recruiting cycle, making him a highly attractive recruit for programs across the country. However, almost his entire focus has been on teams in his home state.
So far, Williams has taken two visits to see the USF Bulls, a trip to visit the Florida Gators, and the prior trip to Miami. Now, with two extra visits in his back pocket, including an official visit over the summer, Williams will have spent the most time with the Canes.
