Miami moves up 3 spots in both polls
Miami moved up three spots in the Associated Press Top 25 and the US LBM coaches polls released on Sunday. Miami is eighth in the AP Top 25 and seventh in the US LBM coaches polls. Several teams ranked ahead of Miami lost during week 13. Alabama, Indiana and Mississippi all fell behind Miami.
Miami received 1,096 points in the AP Top 25. Tennessee is seventh with 1,110 points. The ACC now has two top-10 teams. SMU is ninth with 1,001 points. The Mustangs moved up four spots in the AP Top 25. Clemson is 12th with 789 points as the only other ACC team ranked in the AP Top 25,
Miami is seventh in the US LBM coaches poll with 1,023 points. Georgia is sixth in the coaches poll with 1,103 points, followed by eighth-ranked Tennessee with 972 points. SMU who is ninth with 917 points and Clemson is 12th with 780 are the only other ACC teams in the coaches poll.

Miami is 3-1 against the teams who received votes in the AP Top 25 Week 14 but are not ranked this week. Syracuse hosts Miami in the final regular season game on Saturday. Miami needs a win to advance to the ACC Championship game in Charlotte on December 7 versus SMU,
A Miami win at Syracuse, who enters the game on Saturday with an 8-3 record, should help the Hurricanes in the eyes of the College Football Playoff committee. Miami is two wins away from guaranteeing themselves a spot in the CFP. The ACC Champion will almost definitely be the third seed in the CFP.
