Miami moves up in both week 13 polls following bye
Miami moved up two spots in the Associated Press Top 25 and one in the US LBM Coaches poll. Week 12 losses by BYU and Tennessee allowed Miami to move up. BYU fell seven spots in both polls to allow Miami to move up. Tennessee dropped four spots in the AP Top 25 and four in the US LBM Coaches Poll.
Miami received 945 points in the AP Top 25. Tennessee is one spot ahead of Miami in the AP Top 25 with 953 points and Boise State is 12th with 800 points. Miami dropped eight spots last week in both polls after losing at Georgia Tech. The Hurricanes were ninth in the second 2024 release of the College Football Playoff rankings.
Miami received 847 points in the US LBM Coaches Poll. Mississippi is one spot ahead of Miami with 847 points. Tennessee is 10th with 823 points. Miami is one of three ACC teams in the week 13 rankings. Clemson is 17th in the AP Top 25 and 16th in the Coaches Polls. SMU is 13th and 12th.
Louisville dropped out of both polls after an inexplicable late loss at Stanford. Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Duke were ACC teams who received votes in both polls. Georgia Tech received votes in the AP Top 25. Miami does not have a win over a ranked team in 2024.
Miami will have a chance to play a ranked team in the ACC Championship game if it wins its last two games versus Wake Forest and at Syracuse. Syracuse is 29th in both polls. Clemson finished ACC play 7-1 after a late 24-20 comeback win at Pittsburgh on Saturday. Clemson is 7-2 overall and 7-1 in the ACC.
SMU is at Virginia on Saturday and hosts California to finish the regular season. SMU leads the ACC with a 9-1 overall record and 6-0 in conference games in their first season in the league. SMU was 14th and Clemson 20th in the second release of the 2024 College Football Playoff rankings.
