Be prepared Miami Hurricanes, the ESPN/SEC alliance is at it again and you might be the target!
You knew it was coming. Miami is sitting at 15th in the CFP and on the bubble of an at-large bid into the 12-team bracket, but that's when the Fowler & Herbstreit marketing team comes into action.
In the final minutes of Saturday night's Georgia-Texas game, Herbstreit just started having some random innocent conversation about the Longhorns and the potential of a three-loss team making the playoffs.

Herbstreit begins the push for Texas
"With the schedule Texas has....you had to go to Athens, and then you have Texas A&M at home. It was kind of the consensus if they were to split those two games, they would still be in the [CFP] discussion even with three losses because of that massive game at the end of the year against No. 3 Texas A&M,"
Oh, it was the 'consensus' you say? Go on, Kirk.
"You wonder...if there will be a discussion when it comes to being an at-large team if they were to win at home against Texas A&M."
Oh, we've seen this before, haven't we? And I'm sure many of you laughed when the Fowler & Herbstreit SEC marketing agency successfully bamboozled FSU out of its rightful spot in CFP, but now it's hitting a little closer to home isn't it? Who do you possibly think the target might be for Texas to get that discussion?
But Herbstreit isn't the one to worry about. We all know where he's coming from by now. He no longer even tries to give the appearance of subjectivity. And when we call him out on the BS, he'll just hide behind his furry dog to distract us from his words.
Here at @CollegeGameDay and there is not a cooler thing in sports than @KirkHerbstreit’s dog “Peter” who is here and is looking like he wants to jump into the crowd. @PghSportsNow pic.twitter.com/BHSDHirBM9

Fowler makes the non-argument argument
Fowler, however, is a sneaky one. He tries to give you the impression he's on the up and up, but in reality he's just as bad as Herbstreit. Fowler likes to use semantics to make you think he's not taking the stance that he really is.
."The best [Texas] could be is 9-3, there's never been a three-loss team in, there has to be one at some point. In the modern climate, maybe they could be that first one if they could take care of the Razorbacks and Aggies."

"The best [Texas] could be is 9-3. There's never been a three-loss team in [the playpffs], there has to be one at some point. In the modern climate, maybe they could be that first one if they could take care of the Razorbacks and Aggies.
Did you catch that? Fowler made sure to mention there's NEVER been a three-loss team in the playoffs, but it has to happen sooner or later right? Don't go into these final weeks unprepared Miami. Play to win. Play to win big. If Notre Dame can smash Pitt on the road, so can the Hurricanes. Don't give Fowler & Herbstreit any opening to push this SEC narrative more than they already do.
And a reminder: Texas DOES NOT deserve a discussion
The Longhorns have had a tough schedule and have a nice win over Oklahoma. But they have three losses, and in two of those games they were blown out. Florida, yes the 3-7 Gators, dragged Texas up and down the field in Gainesvile. That's the same Florida team that Miami beat by 29 points!
Yesterday was a good start for Miami. A blowout win with nearly 600 yards of offense was exactly what the doctor ordered. But now it's time to close strong and fight off the attempts by Herbstreit and Fowler to take yourspot in the playoffs.
