Miami now fifth in both national polls

Miami moved up one spot in the Associated Press Top 25 and remained the same in the AFCA Coaches poll to rank fifth in both nationally.

Miami moved up from sixth in the Associated Press Top 25 and remained fifth in the AFCA Coaches Poll are now in the same spot in both national polls after their 36-14 win over Florida State on Saturday. The top six teams in the week nine polls all won their games on Saturday.

Miami passed Texas in the AP Top 25 after the Longhorns beat Vanderbilt 27-24. Oregon, Georgia, Penn State and Ohio State remained first through fourth in both polls. Miami barely passed Texas with 1,283 points in the AP Top 25. Texas has 1,276 in the AP Top 25. Miami had 1,136 points in the AFCA Coaches poll to 1,096 for Texas.

Tennessee is seventh in both polls. Notre Dame, BYU and Texas A&M are eighth through 10th in the AP Top 25. Clemson, Notre Dame and Iowa State are eighth through 10th in the AFCA Coaches Poll. None of Miami's 2024 opponents are ranked in either week 10 top 25 polls.

Louisville is 30th among others receiving votes in the AP Top 25 and 38th in the AFCA Coaches Poll. Duke, who Miami hosts on Saturday is 37th in the AFCA Coaches Poll. Three other ACC teams are ranked in the week 10 poll. Clemson is 11th in the AP Top 25. Pittsburgh is 18th in the AP Top 25 and 17th in the coaches poll. SMU is 20th in both polls.

The four ranked ACC teams all remain undefeated in conference play. Pittsburgh who is 3-0 in the ACC is at SMU on Saturday and hosts Clemson on November 16. The road to the ACC Championship game runs through Pittsburgh. Clemson, Miami and SMU do not play during the 2024 regular season.

Pittsburgh could knock Clemson and SMU out of the ACC Championship Game. Miami needs might have to win out to assure themselves of booking a trip to Charlotte. Miami hosts Duke on Saturday, is at Georgia Tech on November 9, plays versus Wake Forest on November 23 and finishes the season at Syracuse on November 30.
