Indiana forward Malik Reneau who played against Miami in the 2023 NCAA Tournament and considered the Hurricanes as a high school recruit has been offered by Jai Lucas in the transfer portal. Reneau averages 11.4 points per game, 5.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and shoots 55.2 percent from the field in his collegiate career.
Joe Tipton of On3 reported on Tuesday afternoon that Miami is one of 10 power conference programs that have offered Reneau as a transfer, who has one season of eligibility remaining. Reneau could be seeking a program that is more established and not rebuilding like Miami will be doing in 2025-26.
What could work in Miami's favor is that Reneau is originally from Hialeah. After contributing 6.1 PPG and 3.7 RPG as a freshman, Reneau had a breakout 2023-24 sophomore season. Reneau averaged 15.4 PPG, 6.0 RPG and 2.7 APG on an elite frontline that featured current Heat center Kel'el Ware and Mackenzie Mgbako, who is also in the portal.
Reneau did not score and had one assist and was called for one foul in 10 minutes against Miami in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Indiana has missed the NCAA Tournament in each of the past two seasons. The numbers regressed for Reneau during the 2024-25 season to 13.3 PPG, 5.5 RPG, and 2.0 APG and shot 55.2 percent from the field.
Indiana transfer forward Malik Reneau is receiving interest from the following schools, per his agent Adam Godes:

Lucas needs to build nearly an entirely new roster. Guards Divine Ugochukwu and A.J. Stanton-McCray are the only scholarship players on the Miami roster with eligibility remaining who have not entered the transfer portal since it opened on Monday. The previous Miami staff recruited Reneau out of high school.
Auburn, Michigan and Texas Tech are the only remaining teams left in the 2025 NCAA Tournament among the programs who contacted Reneau per Tipton. Adding Reneau would send a statement from Lucas that Miami can sign high-level talent and that local players are a priority.
