Miami only winning team in post week 7 State of Florida Power Rankings
With Florida State and Miami on byes, the other five Florida Football Bowl Subdivision teams lost this week. Miami is the only Florida FBS team with a winning record. Central Florida, Florida, Florida Atlantic and South Florida lost on Saturday. FIU was defeated on Tuesday in week seven.
Florida International began the week with a 31-24 overtime loss at Liberty. FIU dropped to 2-4, with the loss to Liberty. Liberty improved to 5-0 and could be in the rankings released on Sunday. FIU's 2024 wins are against Central Michigan and Louisiana Tech. The remainder of the Florida FBS teams played on Sunday.
Florida missed a field goal in overtime and Tennessee scored a TD on their possession to defeat the Gators 23-17. Florida falls to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the SEC with the loss. With everyone else losing, Florida remains second in the State of Florida Power Rankings after week seven.
Central Florida fell behind 10-0 and never led in a 19-13 loss to Cincinnati in Orlando on Saturday. The Knights fell to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the Big XII with the loss. Former Miami quarterback Jacurri Brown started for UCF on Saturday. Brown was 13-20 for 207 yards and a touchdown and had 16 carries for 84 yards.

Florida Atlantic led 34-27 at home entering the fourth quarter versus North Texas. The Mean Green outscored the Owls 14-3 in the fourth quarter to earn a 41-37 win. FAU fell to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the American Athletic Conference. Texas-San Antonio hosts FAU on Saturday.
Memphis scored 14 points in the first quarter and cruised in a 21-3 win over South Florida. The Bulls had only 258 total yards. South Florida is 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the American. South Florida hosts UAB next week and is at FAU on November 1 after a bye. That will be a key game in the Florida Power Rankings.
The post week seven Power Rankings remain the same. Miami is at Louisville on Saturday following the bye. Florida State is at Duke on Saturday. Miami hosts Florida State on October 26. Florida hosts Kentucky next week. Barring a complete collapse, Miami will finish the 2024 season as the best program in Florida.
