Miami overpowers Boston College for 7th consecutive ACC win

Miami scored in nearly every inning to win their seventh consecutive ACC game and clinch their fourth straight series on Saturday at Boston College.

Miami scored runs in every inning except the third and sixth to win its seventh consecutive ACC game, 13-4, at Boston College on Saturday. After falling behind 2-1 after the first inning on Saturday, Miami scored three runs in the top of the second and never looked back.

Miami scored 10 unanswered runs from the second through eighth innings to take an 11-2 lead. The Hurricanes took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning after Bobby Marsh was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Boston College took their only lead of the series on a two-run home run by Gunnar Johnson in the bottom of the first inning.

Miami tied the game at two in the top of the second inning on an RBI groundout by Max Galvin and regained the lead permanently on a run-scoring double by Daniel Cuvet. Cuvet scored later in the inning on a wild pitch as Miami plated three runs in the top of the second inning to take a 4-2 lead.

Miami scored two runs each in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings and one in the eighth to take a commanding 11-2 lead before Boston College added two in the bottom of the eighth. A HR by Gaby Gutirrez in the ninth inning closed out the scoring to give Miami the 13-4 win.

Miami starting pitcher A.J. Ciscar limited Boston College in seven innings, allowing the two earned runs in the first inning on three hits and two walks with nine strikeouts. Five Miami players had multiple hits. Jake Ogden led Miami with three hits and three runs scored in five at-bats while contributing two RBIs.

Galvin led Miami with three runs batted in on Saturday. Miami clinched its fourth consecutive ACC series and will go for its eighth straight ACC win and back-to-back weekend sweeps on Sunday at Fenway Park in the ALS Awareness Game with a noon first pitch.
