Miami quarterback Cam Ward told reporters he will not throw at the NFL Combine on Saturday in a video posted by longtime Cleveland Browns beat reporter Mary Kay Cabot. Shedeur Sanders of Colorado, who is the other top QB in the 2025 NFL Draft, has also elected to skip throwing at the Combine.
Ward told reporters he doesn't expect not throwing at the 2025 NFL Combine will move him in the draft and he has decided to throw at Miami's Pro Day instead. He said, he'll be doing so, "to the best receiving corps in the country." Miami tight end Elijah Arroyo and wide receivers Sam Brown, Jacolby George and Xavier Restrepo were all invited to the 2025 NFL Combine.
Arroyo is injured and will not participate in the drills at the Combine. Brown, George, Restrepo, and running back Damien Martinez are scheduled to participate in the Combine on Saturday. Ward did not specify whether he plans to compete in the other drills at the NFL Combine on Saturday.
Ward is the projected first pick in the NFL Draft. If the Tennessee Titans, who hold the first pick in the NFL Draft, chose to go in another direction, most NFL Mock Drafts still project Ward as the first QB off the board. The 2025 NFL Draft is not considered deep at QB, which could help Ward's draft stock.

Cam Ward has decided to skip throwing at the NFL Combine
Miami's Pro Day will be March 25. Ward also stated, "I won't be throwing. I just think five years of film says everything I can do" per Eric Edhold of NFL.com. The NFL Combine allows athletes to participate in a controlled environment.
Ward played in different offenses, under several different coordinators and three completely different programs in Football Bowl Subdivision program Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Washington State and Miami during his college career. Ward clearly has a lot of film showing everything he can do in multiple situations and weather.
