University of Miami quarterback Carson Beck has been named to the Maxwell Award preseason watch list, the Maxwell Football Club announced.

The Maxwell Award, established in 1937, is presented annually to college football’s Player of the Year. Beck now has a chance to become only the fourth Miami quarterback ever to win the Maxwell Award, joining Vinny Testaverde (1986), Gino Torretta (1992) and Ken Dorsey (2001).

Beck arrives at Miami following a decorated career at Georgia, where over five seasons he accumulated 7,912 passing yards and 58 touchdowns, guiding the Bulldogs to a 24‑3 record in his 27 career starts. His breakout came as a starter in 2023, when he led Georgia to a 13‑1 finish with 3,941 yards and 24 touchdowns. In 2024 he threw for 3,485 yards and 28 touchdowns despite battling injuries that ultimately ended his season with elbow surgery.
