With 10 commits on board for the 2027 class, Miami and Mario Cristobal are crushing things out on the recruiting trail and they are just getting started. Recently too, the Canes were able to grab the verbal pledge of 4-star quarterback Israel Abrams in a big-time win for the staff.

Well, he's not ranked four stars anymore. Thanks to recent updates, Abrams is now ranked five stars, the No. 2 quarterback in the country and No. 39 prospect overall according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Yup, this is quite an honor for the young signal-caller and it's one that the Miami faithful are pretty dang fired up about too:

Miami QB commit Israel Abrams has landed his coveted 5th star in the new 247Sports Composite rankings

Throughout his recruitment, Abrams, a 6-4, 185-pounder from Illinois, picked up 23 total offers. At one point, it looked like the Auburn Tigers were major contenders to potentially grab his verbal, but Cristobal and Co. kept working overtime in getting things done.

Things ultimately led to Abrams announcing his decision on The Pat McAfee Show, giving Cristobal and Miami fans everywhere the news they were hoping for. While speaking to McAfee, Abrams also didn't hold back on his goals once he makes the move to Coral Gables.

"When I get to Miami, my only thing will be to try and win us a national championship every year and I want to be in the Heisman talk through the jump," Abrams said. "Some people might take it as naiveness, but I don’t see it that way because I've never seen it that way."

This is a QB who plays the game with a ton of swagger and confidence, which of course is going to make him a perfect fit with the Canes. The fact that Abrams will eventually make his way to campus as a 5-star prospect and one of the top QBs in the country is only going to make things even better for him.

He joins wideout Nick Lennear as the 5-star pledges for Miami, but Cristobal isn't even close to done going after elite targets. Soon enough, more commits should be on the way and Abrams himself is ready to help out the Canes with some recruiting efforts too.
