Miami received 144 points with a high ranking of nine and a low of 21 as The Sporting News conducted a consensus of 11 national media sites that posted preseason top 25 rankings. Clemson, who is fourth in the consensus rankings, is the only ACC team ranked higher than Miami.
Five of the 11 media outlets rank Miami in their top 10. Miami is ninth in The Athletic, which is their highest ranking among the 11 media outlets. ESPN ranks Miami 21st in their preseason top 25, which is the lowest among the national media outlets.
The Action Network, Athlon Sports, Sports Illustrated and USA Today all rank Miami 10th in their rankings. CBS Sports ranks Miami 11th, The Bleacher Report and Sporting News have the Hurricanes 12th and On3 has them 20th as the only other outlet ranking the men from Coral Gables 20th or higher.
Notre Dame is the highest-ranked team on the 2025 Miami schedule. The Fighting Irish are sixth in the consensus preseason rankings with 199 points, a high rank of second and a low of seventh. Florida, SMU and Louisville are the other ranked teams on the 2025 Miami schedule.

Florida is 13th in the Sporting News consensus rankings with 123 points and a high ranking of 10th and a low of 22nd. SMU is 19th with 59 points, a low of 12th and is unranked in two rankings. Louisville is 23rd in the consensus rankings, with 38.5 points, a high of 17 and is unranked in two rankings.
Miami will be tested in 2025. Notre Dame is at Miami on August 31st to open the season. Florida plays at Miami three weeks later on September 20. Miami hosts Louisville on October 17 and is at SMU on November 1. Miami has one of the toughest non-conference schedules with Florida and Notre Dame.
