Miami will play at Mississippi in the 2025 ACC/SEC Challenge, as first reported by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports and later confirmed by the college basketball site The Field of 68. Miami and Mississippi have played four times. The 2025 matchup will be the first between Miami and Mississippi since 2011.
Miami lost 64-61 in overtime at Mississippi in 2011 after winning the first three games in the series versus the Rebels. The Hurricanes beat the Rebels 86-73 in 2010 in the first of a home-and-home series. Miami won 82-67 and 55-43 in the first two games versus Mississippi on December 21 and 22, 1949.
Miami finished 7-24 in 2024-25, which tied the program record for losses. Mississippi finished 24–12 overall and 10–8 in the SEC in 2024–25. The Rebels advanced to the NCAA Tournament Regional Semifinals for the second time in program history, where they were eliminated by Michigan State.
The ACC/SEC Challenge is entering its third season. In 2023 each conference won seven games. The SEC won 14 games and lost two in the 2024 ACC/SEC Challenge. Miami lost at Kentucky in 2023 and versus Arkansas in 2024 in their two ACC/SEC challenge appearances. Mississippi will be making its first appearance in 2025.

New head coach Jai Lucas has had to rebuild the entire Miami roster. Miami signed five incoming freshmen and six transfers to its 2025-26 roster. Malik Dia, who averaged 10.8 points per game and 5.8 rebounds in 2024-25, is the only significant returnee for Mississippi in 2025-26.
Mississippi added four incoming freshmen and five transfers to its 2025-26 roster. Louisville transfers Koren Johnson and James Scott should be familiar to ACC/Miami fans and Mississippi also added A.J. Storr from Kansas, Travis Perry from Kentucky and Corey Chest from LSU as other power conference transfers.
