Miami receives huge injury news for Mark Fletcher Jr. and Ahmad Moten ahead of Clemson

Miami coach Mario Cristobal said Monday on WQAM's The Joe Rose Show that running back Mark Fletcher Jr. and defensive tackle Ahmad Moten Sr. are expected to play Saturday night at Clemson, giving the Hurricanes two starters back.

Both players sat out Miami's 52-3 win over Central Michigan as a precaution after minor injuries suffered Sept. 18 at Wake Forest.

Fletcher, a preseason AP All-American, leads Miami with 230 rushing yards, is tied for the team lead with three rushing touchdowns, and is averaging 6.4 yards per carry through three games. Moten left the Wake Forest game on the opening drive, returned for the second series, and played 27 snaps that night, finishing the season so far with three tackles and a half-sack.

Chris Wheatley-Humphrey took advantage against the Chippewas and ran for 104 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, while Javian Mallory also scored on the ground.

Miami has already lost running back CharMar Brown and wide receiver Josh Moore for the season, and Fletcher's return puts the lead back in a room that also includes Girard Pringle Jr. and Jordan Lyle.

The defensive front without Moten held Central Michigan to 21 rushing yards, but the Hurricanes will now have to deal with Clemson running back Gideon Davidson, who ran for 159 yards in Friday's 24-10 win at California.

Since the Tigers opened the season with a 51-10 loss at LSU, they have beaten Georgia Southern, North Carolina, and California. While Clemson isn't what they used to be and don't project to make much noise nationally, they are not an opponent that Miami should take lightly. Clemson will also be the toughest team that Miami has played up to this point, so it's a huge boost to have Fletcher and Moten back in the fold.
