Entering the college football and high school football season brings a level of hope on the field for many programs. But, in that same breath, the recruiting trail also remains uncertain in the ever-changing landscape of Friday night lights and Saturday football. Let's take a look at one prospect who could potentially be on flip watch from Miami and one prospect who could flip to Miami.
5-star WR Calvin Russell committed to Syracuse earlier this month, but the two-sport star out of Miami Northwestern is one we will be tracking this fall because schools are not giving up on him.

LB Jordan Campbell
Miami Hurricanes fans should be able to rest easy here but there are some signs that four-star linebacker Jordan Campbell could be on the move to Nebraska (if he flips) per Chad Simmons of Rivals/On3. But, as of right now, he remains a steadfast commitment to his hometown team. Originally pledging to Miami all the way back in November of 2023, the Coral Gables standout has consistently reaffirmed that loyalty, despite ongoing overtures from other major programs.
Campbell has taken a series of official and unofficial visits to schools like Auburn, Nebraska, Missouri, and even Florida State. His schedule in June included official visits to Miami (June 6–8), Auburn (June 10–12), Nebraska (June 13–15), and Missouri (June 20–22). He also recently visited FSU.
Simmons reported that Nebraska and Missouri have been particularly aggressive in their pursuit, hosting Campbell on the road and maintaining regular contact throughout his recruitment process. Missouri still has ties through defensive staff, as linebackers coach Derek Nicholson was originally Campbell’s recruiter at Miami. Still, Campbell has described Miami as his true home.
"Miami is home… All the coaches know me, they all want me at Miami and they just keep telling me that Miami is home."Jordan Campbell
He also acknowledged that a visit to Nebraska, “opened my eyes” and that Missouri’s staff still holds meaningful sway over him.
At 6‑foot‑2 and 200 lbs, Campbell is ranked among the nation’s top linebackers for the Class of 2026. He carries a Rivals rating of 66, placing him at No. 6 overall in Florida and No. 5 at his position, while On3’s Industry Rankings list him as around No. 135 overall and No. 8 linebacker nationally.
Reports suggest Nebraska is the most legitimate flip threat, though many insiders believe any change would require a standout campaign by the Huskers next season or a misstep by Miami. For now, his most recent official visit to Coral Gables reaffirmed his pledge.
WR Calvin Russell
Despite Calvin Russell Jr. committing to Syracuse earlier this month, choosing them over programs like Michigan, Oregon, Florida State, and Miami, the Hurricanes aren’t out of the picture. Russell is a Miami legacy as his mother, Chanivia Broussard, starred for the UM women’s basketball team. Miami's staff views him as their long-term recruiting project and are expected to push hard for a flip down the line.
Syracuse won the early commitment battle, and the buzz before his announcement heavily leaned toward Michigan, but Miami remained in the mix until the end. The Hurricanes are known to be gauging every opening to bring the two-sport star home to Coral Gables.
Russell is ranked as a five-star wide receiver by 247Sports and On3 and would be Syracuse's highest-ranked recruit in program history. He’s expected to play both football and basketball at the collegiate level, and that desire works with Miami, which could give them leverage. The Hurricanes aren’t expected to walk away, even after his Syracuse pledge, and are believed to be pushing hard to flip him before signing day.
