Last week's loss to Louisville had a major impact on Miami's odds to win the College Football Playoff. At FanDuel, the Hurricanes have dropped from top three in odds to +1600 on FanDuel. That drops the Hurricanes to the seventh-best odds, lower than Notre Dame (+1100) and higher than Ole Miss (+2700).
The drop in the betting odds shouldn't be too shocking, as the loss doesn't take Miami out of the playoff bracket, but it does make the path to success a lot more difficult.
The Hurricanes’ playoff odds are still near 90 percent, according to The Athletic’s model. https://t.co/aOUi3dtbLC

How has Miami's path to the CFP changed?
The loss changed everything for the Hurricanes. Miami no longer controls its own destiny in the ACC, even if it wins out. That means that any chance of a first-round bye would be gone if the Hurricanes can't get into that game.
Not having a first-round bye doesn't mean there's no chance at winning. Both Ohio State and Notre Dame made it to the final without a first-round bye. But the path is much harder. It was extremely difficult for Notre Dame with games against Indiana, Georgia and Penn State first. And by the time the Irish played the Buckeyes, they seemed a step slower.
It's that sort of gauntlet that the Hurricanes could potentially be staring at without having the luxury of a first-round bye.
What are the players saying?
Carson Beck threw four interceptions in the loss, but the quarterback believes that he and the have already done a good job of moving forward. Beck's odds to win the Heisman also took a major hit in the loss, but that's not where his focus is.
"It's not the first time that I've taken a loss or had turnovers or played up to the standard that I want to play to each and every week," Beck said, "I have to be better, but again nothing changes. We continue to prep the way we have been and continue to do the same things that have ultimately got us to this spot."
Beck said the key is going to be how the team grows from the mistakes they made Friday that led to the loss.
"There's a lot we can be better at. We've had some really good practices this week and really honed in and focused on some of those little mistakes we can fix. We've moved on from last week. We're three practices in and focusing on prep for Stanford,'" Beck concluded.
