Miami's inactive list against Stanford in Week 1 includes RB Jordan Lyle

No. 7 Miami will open the season Friday without four players, including running back Jordan Lyle, according to the ACC's final availability report posted Thursday night.

Lyle, cornerback Ja'Boree Antoine, safety Dylan Day and tight end Luka Gilbert are out for Miami. The first report on Tuesday listed only Antoine and Gilbert as out, while Day was added on Wednesday and Lyle was added on Thursday.

Lyle has rushed for 508 yards and five touchdowns in two seasons at Miami. He averaged 7.4 yards per carry as a freshman in 2024 (400 yards, four touchdowns on 54 carries). He did not play in Miami’s final seven games last year.

His status has been unresolved since a mid-August arrest in Broward County on charges of aggravated fleeing or eluding and reckless driving. The ACC report does not list a reason for any designation. Mark Fletcher Jr., CharMar Brown, Girard Pringle Jr. and freshman Javian Mallory remain available in the backfield.

Gilbert will miss the season after a summer injury. He had two catches for 37 yards as a freshman in 2025. Elija Lofton is the featured tight end.

Antoine was a backup corner as a true freshman and played extra snaps in the College Football Playoff when other corners were out. Day had 11 tackles, one sack and two pass breakups in 2025.
