Keionte Scott made his return to the lineup for Miami's College Football Playoff trip to College Station. After making a statement on the field, he went to X to call out the voters who snubbed him from being a Jim Thorpe Award finalist.

Scott finished with 10 tackles (team-high), two sacks, one forced fumble and three tackles for loss as Miami's defense smothered Texas A&M in a 10-3 CFP first-round win at Kyle Field. The victory pushes Miami into the next round, with the Hurricanes headed to the Goodyear Cotton Bowl for a matchup with Ohio State.

Scott was named a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award in October, putting him on the short list for best defensive back in college football.  But when the Thorpe finalists were announced, his name was not on it, with LSU's Mansoor Delane, Ohio State's Caleb Downs and Notre Dame's Leonard Moore making the cut (Downs went on to win the award).

Keionte Scott was initially thought to be out for the season

Back in mid-November, Miami coach Mario Cristobal called Scott's right foot injury "heart-wrenching" and said a return was unlikely. A few weeks later, things changed. Ahead of the Texas A&M game, he said he felt "very strongly" Scott would be ready and described him as "exactly how you"d draw up a football player." Miami got that version of Scott when it needed it most.

A&M quarterback Marcel Reed threw 2 interceptions, and the Aggies turned it over three times total. Texas A&M's run game never got off the ground, finishing with 89 rushing yards on 35 carries.

Scott now gets another stage to prove that the voters got it wrong. Miami is moving on to face Ohio State and if Scott puts together another performance like he did Saturday, he can say whatever he wants online.
