Miami added another piece to its 2026 defensive front on Tuesday, flipping Caravel Academy (Bear, Del.) lineman Isaac Chukwurah from Penn State after an official visit weekend in Coral Gables. The 6-foot-2, 260-pound junior DL had been committed to the Nittany Lions since April.

Chukwurah reopened his recruitment in October in the wake of Penn State firing HC James Franklin. Following the move, he lined up a series of visits that included NC State on Nov. 1 and Miami on Nov. 8. By the end of his Miami trip, the Hurricanes had surged past the field and now he's not expected to take any other visits before signing day.
During his visit, the Hurricanes pummeled Syracuse 38-10 at Hard Rock Stadium — a performance that showcased a defensive unit that has undertaken a 180 degree turn since last year.
Chukwurah is a disruptive, versatile defender who can align across the front line. As a junior he logged 65 tackles, 25 tackles for loss and 17 sacks, helping Caravel to a state championship. The On3 Industry Ranking places him No. 521 nationally, No. 54 among defensive linemen and No. 2 in Delaware. He is rated as a 3-star prospect throughout all recruiting services.
Chukwurah becomes Miami's eighth defensive line commit in the 2026 cycle, joining four-stars Keshawn Stancil, Asharri Charles, Jordan Campbell, DeAnthony Lafayette and Anthony Kennedy and three-stars Tyson Bacon and Frederic Sainteus. With Chukwurah aboard, Miami's 2026 class sits top-10 nationally in the On3 Industry Team Rankings and holds the No. 1 spot in the ACC.
Chukwurah's commitment continues Miami's streak over the past three days. Miami made splashes in the 2026 Class with the commitment of four-star safety J.J. Dunnigan on Sunday and four-star edge rusher DeAnthony Lafayette on Monday. Bringing Chukwurah into the fold continues the momentum and puts Miami in good position.
