Miami should feast versus porous Wake Forest defense
Miami enters their game versus Wake Forest first nationally averaging 45,0 points per game, 544.8 total yards per game and 368.2 passing YPG. Wake Forest is 115th allowing 32.5 PPG and 119th with opponents averaging 437.9 total YPG. Miami should be able to attack a porous Wake Forest pass defense.
Wake Forest is 130th nationally, allowing 281.9 passing yards per game. The Demon Deacons are 111th nationally, allowing 306.6 passing YPG versus Power Conference opponents. All five Wake Forest opponents who have thrown for over 300 yards were Power Five teams.
Miami has thrown for over 300 yards in every game this season except Florida State. Florida State was also the only game Miami did not throw for at least two TDs. Cam Ward had 348 yards passing, three TDs and no interceptions in the 28-23 loss at Georgia Tech two weeks ago.
Three wide receivers have had 100-yard receiving games versus Wake Forest in 2024. Malachi Fields had 11 receptions for 148 yards for Virginia in a 31-30 win over Wake Forest. Lance Legendre of Louisiana had six receptions for 123 yards and two TDs as they beat Wake Forest 41-38.
Clemson tight end Jake Briningstool had seven receptions for 104 yards and one TD as the Tigers beat Wake Forest 49-14 last month. Wake Forest has not allowed a 100-yard receiver in its last four games. With the success Briningstool had versus Wake Forest, Miami TE Elijah Arroyo could be a player to watch versus the Demon Deacons.
Miami should be able to move the ball how they want versus Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons are 83rd nationally allowing 155.90 rushing yards per game. Wake Forest is 70th but allows 160.86 rushing YPG versus Power Conference teams. Omarion Hampton had 35 carries for 244 yards and a TD rushing versus Wake Forest last week.
After the subpar performance at Georgia Tech two weeks ago in their first loss of the 2024 season there is no reason that Miami doesn't have an elite offensive game versus Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons are 16th in the ACC in points allowed per game and last in total yards allowed per game. Miami should thrive offensively versus Wake Forest.
