Cam Coleman has announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal, and he should be Miami's top target to fill the hole that CJ Daniels will leave behind.

Miami is going to be a busy team during the transfer portal window and one area the Hurricanes will be looking at is an experienced wide receiver to pair with Malachi Toney for next season.

Coleman is the perfect fit for the Hurricanes offense

Miami will be losing Daniels and Keelan Marion after this season and while it's apparent that Josh Moore and Jojo Trader are young players with high upside, the Hurricanes won't hesitate to try to add a potential All-American type talent like Coleman to the room.

Coleman, at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, is a big, physical outside receiver. He can win 50/50 balls, and he has the big frame to be a major threat in the red zone. With all the excitement and versatility that Toney provides, he would be even more dangerous if paired with someone that can be a big-play threat on the outside.

Add to the fact that Coleman hasn't exactly had great QB play during his time at Auburn and will probably be looking for a situation with a quarterback that can get him the ball with consistency. With Miami also in the market for a top-end transfer quarterback, it should be more appealing to Coleman knowing that he'll be paired with a quality arm.

The first step to a championship run

Miami's 2025 season isn't over yet and the Hurricanes are prepping for Wednesday's CFP quarterfinal against Ohio State. But they don't want to have just one window of opportunity. The Hurricanes staff is going to be selective in the portal, looking for key pieces to build around a roster of home-grown talent.

Coleman is the type of roster addition that Mario Cristobal wants out of the portal — a difference maker, a guy that can be the difference between winning 9–10 games and winning the ACC and earning a first-round bye in the playoffs.

If Miami is already a contender in 2026, an addition like Coleman could put the Hurricanes over the top.
