After two injured-plagued seasons, Elijah Arroyo had a breakout year for Miami as a redshirt junior in 2024. Arroyo is turning a second-team All-ACC season into entering the 2025 NFL Draft. Arroyo obliterated career highs with 35 receptions for 590 yards and seven TDs in 2024.
In his first three seasons, Arroyo had 11 receptions for 163 yards and one TD. Arroyo suffered a season-ending knee injury as a sophomore in 2022 that plagued him for most of the 2023 season. Senior Bowl Director Jim Nagy said "Elijah Arroyo is best seam-stretching TE in this year's draft,"
Nagy added, "Some team is going to get a legit downfield weapon." Arroyo contributed to the nation's top-ranked offense and scoring offense in 2024, finishing fifth on Miami in receptions, fourth in receiving yards and third in TDs. The biggest question with Arroyo entering the 2025 NFL Draft will be his health.
Miami signed Arroyo in the 2021 class as the 201st-ranked prospect, sixth TE and 33rd player in Texas out of Frisco, Independence. Arroyo is originally from Miami and in his X post saying goodbye mentions he grew up a Canes fan who loved hearing about "legends like Ray Lewis and Sean Taylor."
The NFL Mock Draft Database lists Arroyo as the 161st-ranked prospect and ninth TE on its big board. Miami defensive line coach Jason Taylor's son Mason, who played for LSU is the fourth TE and 89th player overall on the NFL Mock Draft Database Big Board. Arroyo is playing in the Senior Bowl next month in Mobile, Alabama.
Arroyo will also wait to see if he receives an invitation to participate in the 2025 NFL Combine in Indianapolis in February. Will Mallory who was a fifth-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts in 2023 is the last TE to be drafted from Miami. Arroyo is projected to be a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
