Miami uses balancing scoring beating Binghamton
Miami beat Binghamton 88-54 to improve to 2-0 in 2024-25. The Hurricanes received balanced scoring with four players scoring in double figures. Binghamton led 10-4 before Miami went on a 12-0 and bigger 24-2 run to seize control of the game. The Miami lead was single digits only once after the 24-2 run.
Miami was balanced throughout the game with no one scoring double figures in the first half. Jalen Blackmon and Nijel Pack led Miami with 17 points each. Miami settled in after the early deficit and led 46-25 at halftime. Miami outscored Binghamton 42-15 after the early deficit.
Miami shot 48.3 percent on the afternoon and made 11-31 three-point field goal attempts. Binghamton shot 41.8 from the field and made eight of 24 three-point field goal attempts. Gavin Walsh was one of two players in double figures for Binghamton finishing with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Miami dominated by out-rebounding Binghamton with a 38-29 advantage and 36-19 in points off the bench. Miami played 12 players to only nine for Binghamton. The Hurricanes had the game on cruise control in the second half with a 42-39 advantage over the final 20 minutes.
Miami has been elite offensively in its first two games with 201 points. while allowing 133. With only three returnees from last season, Miami head coach Jim Larranaga has been able to utilize multiple lineups. Matthew Cleveland came off the bench to score nine points and contribute 11 rebounds.
Miami hosts Coppin State on November 17 before playing in the Charleston Classic on November 21, 22 and 24. Miami will play Drake in its first game in Charleston. Pack is the only Miami player remaining from the Hurricanes' win over Drake in the 2023 NCAA Tournament on their way to the Final Four.
Miami will play either Oklahoma State or Florida Atlantic in the second game in Charleston. Seton Hall versus VCU and Vanderbilt against Nevada are the three teams on the other side of the bracket. None of the teams playing in Charlotte are ranked. Miami is among other receiving votes.
