Miami uses big first half run after slow start to bury Boston College

Miami overcame a slow start with a huge run to close the first half in a convincing win over Boston College.

Miami had a 30-6 run over the last 15 minutes of the first half to earn a 76-54 win over Boston College on Saturday. The Hurricanes held the Eagles to 29.6 percent from the field in the first half after initially falling behind 13-6 and led 36-19 at halftime.

Boston College began the game making five of its first nine shots to take the 13-6 lead. The Eagles finished the first half making three of their last 18 attempts from the field. Center Ernest Udeh Jr. helped anchor Miami in the first half with seven points, six rebounds, three blocks and two steals.

Miami finished the first half with eight steals and the three Udeh blocks. After making one of its first six field goal attempts, Miami converted on 13 of its last 25 from the field in the first half. Miami finished the game making 50.0 percent from the field and held Boston College to 40.0.

Four Miami players finished in double figures, led by Tre Donaldson with 15. Miami overcame eight points and three rebounds from leading scorer Malik Reneau in 21 minutes. Udeh finished with 11 points, 12 rebounds and the three blocks. Israeli Noam Dovrat had his best game for Miami with 12 points on 4 of 5 on three-point attempts.

Boston College was led by Boden Kapke with 18 points. Fred Payne and Jayden Hastings each scored 11 points as the other Eagles in double figures. Hastings scored nine in the second half and Kapke had eight. Boston College shot 52.2 percent in the second half.

Miami continued to dominate inside. The Hurricanes had a 35-28 rebounding advantage, outscored 42-28 on points in the paint and had a 12-10 advantage in second-chance points. Miami also finished with a 12-0 edge in fast break points, outscored the Eagles 30-12 in bench points and 22-10 in points off turnovers.

Israeli Noam Dovrat had his best game for Miami with XX points on X of X on three-point attempts. Miami plays its final 2025-26 road game at SMU on Wednesday. Louisville is at Miami on March 7 for Senior Day. Miami improved to 12-4 in the ACC with the win. As the third place team, Miami is on pace for an ACC Tournament double-bye.
