Miami versus number 1 Tennessee Jimmy V Classic : Odds, Series history and TV

Miami travels to New York for the Jimmy V Classic with the task of ending a six game losing streak against Tennessee who became the number one team in the polls on Monday.

Miami takes a six-game losing streak to the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York to play Tennessee on Tuesday night. Tennessee was voted the number one team nationally in both polls released on Monday. Tennessee, Florida and Oklahoma are the only ranked and undefeated teams.

The Volunteers are also first in the NCAA Net Ratings. Tennessee has already defeated ACC teams Syracuse, Virginia and Louisville this season, plus Baylor who was ranked 13th nationally when they played. North Florida transfer Chaz Lanier leads Tennessee averaging 18.8 points per game.

Lanier is shooting 47.3 percent from the floor, 81.3 percent on free throws and makes 47.7 percent of his three-point attempts. Lanier scored 12 points on 4-10 from the floor and 4-9 three-point attempts with three rebounds, two assists and two steals for UNF in 2023 in a 95-55 Miami win.

Miami has been abysmal defensively. Miami is 311 in opponent field goal percentage and 318th in opponent three-point percentage. Including the last 10 games of the 2024-25 season, Miami has lost 16 of its last 19 games. Ending that stretch will be extremely difficult versus Tennessee.
