No. 1 Miami (6-0, 4-0 ACC) hosts Pitt (5-2, 2-2 ACC) at noon ET on Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium. The Canes improved to 6-0 and claimed the No. 1 ranking after a 43-35 win over FSU.

Pitt arrives after consecutive losses to North Carolina and Boston College and will play without starting quarterback Mason Heintschel, who is out for the season with a torn ACL.

Miami is ranked No. 1 for the first time since 2002 and the Hurricanes have won three of the last four meetings, including a 38-7 victory last season.

Miami vs. Pittsburgh: Game prediction

Miami enters the matchup averaging 48.5 points per game while allowing just 14 per game.

Pitt averages 32.9 points and allows 16.4, ranking solidly on defense, but the loss of Heintschel and other absences create a steep challenge against the nation's top-ranked team.

Miami's ground game (226.5 yards per game) and overall efficiency give the Hurricanes the edge in this game, so expect them to control the line of scrimmage and pull away in a noon kickoff.

Final score: Miami 42, Pittsburgh 16
