The Hurricanes and Demon Deacons meet on Friday night in Winston-Salem for the 13th time. Miami leads 9-3 in the series all-time.
Wake Forest won three of the first four meetings, including back-to-back shutouts in Miami. But since 1969 the Hurricanes have won eight in a row.
Here is every game between Miami and Wake Forest.
Wake Forest 13, Miami 6 (Dec. 25, 1928)
Wake Forest arrived at 1-6-2 under first-year coach Stan Cofall and left with a 13-6 victory, the Demon Deacons' second win of a difficult year and the first game in a series that now spans nearly 98 years.
Miami 3, Wake Forest 0 (Nov. 15, 1935)
The Hurricanes evened the series seven years later in the lowest-scoring game the two programs have played. Miami won 3-0 on a field goal, and it is the only shutout the Hurricanes have posted against Wake Forest.
Wake Forest 33, Miami 0 (Oct. 6, 1939)
The Demon Deacons returned to Miami and dominated. The 33-0 final is still Wake Forest's largest margin against the Hurricanes and the second of the three shutouts.
Wake Forest 27, Miami 0 (Oct. 27, 1944)
Five years later Wake Forest blanked Miami again. The Demon Deacons left town with a 3-1 series lead, and those two consecutive shutouts are the last time they have beaten Miami. The programs did not play again for 25 years.
Miami 49, Wake Forest 7 (Nov. 21, 1969)
The second version of the series started in Miami with a 42-point home victory. The gap between the 1944 shutout and this game covered the entire postwar rise of Hurricane football, and Miami has not lost to Wake Forest since.
Miami 29, Wake Forest 10 (Sept. 25, 1971)
The first meeting in Winston-Salem went the same. The programs then went 33 years without playing.
Miami 52, Wake Forest 7 (Nov. 20, 2004)
No. 12 Miami, chasing a conference title in its first ACC season, scored on its first three possessions and finished with 579 yards. Brock Berlin threw for a career-high 361 yards and four touchdowns before leaving in the third quarter. Frank Gore ran for a score, Roscoe Parrish had 141 receiving yards, and the 45-point margin remains the largest in series history.
Miami 47, Wake Forest 17 (Nov. 12, 2005)
Kyle Wright tied a Miami record with five touchdown passes in a 47-17 victory. He completed 17 of 27 throws for 319 yards. Charlie Jones ran for 90 yards and two touchdowns, Sinorice Moss caught a 64-yard scoring pass, Lance Leggett added a 76-yard touchdown while Greg Olsen also scored. Wake Forest also turned the ball over six times.
Miami 16, Wake Forest 10 (Oct. 25, 2008)
Matt Bosher kicked field goals of 36, 52 and 43 yards, and Robert Marve ran 43 yards to set up his own 1-yard touchdown as Miami rallied for a 16-10 home win. Marve completed 11 of 20 passes for 153 yards, and Thearon Collier's 25-yard catch on third-and-10 helped the Hurricanes run out the clock.
Josh Adams carried the ball 21 times for 111 yards for Wake Forest as the Demon Deacons rushed 52 times for 195 yards but still did not score after the first quarter.
Miami 28, Wake Forest 27 (Oct. 31, 2009)
Halloween night in Winston-Salem produced the closest game in the series. Wake Forest led 17-0 and still held a 27-14 advantage heading into the fourth quarter before Jacory Harris threw for 330 yards and three touchdowns. Travis Benjamin's diving 13-yard catch with 1:08 remaining gave Miami its first lead, and Wake Forest's 60-yard field goal attempt on the final play fell short.
Miami 24, Wake Forest 21 (Oct. 26, 2013)
No. 7 Miami was 6-0 and trying to stay unbeaten when Duke Johnson carried the ball 30 times for 168 yards and scored twice in the fourth quarter. The second touchdown was a 1-yard run with 53 seconds left after Wake Forest had taken a 21-17 lead on a 44-yard scoring pass. Antonio Crawford's interception sealed the win, and the series then went dark for 11 seasons.
Miami 42, Wake Forest 14 (Nov. 23, 2024)
It was Senior Day at Hard Rock Stadium where Wake Forest stayed within 20-14 into the fourth quarter before Miami scored 22 unanswered points. Cam Ward threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns, ran for another and broke Bernie Kosar's single-season school passing record. Mishael Powell returned an interception 76 yards, and Jordan Lyle ran for 115 yards.
