Xavier Restrepo is the all-time leading receiver in the history of the Miami Hurricanes football program. But, during his Pro Day on Monday, you would not have been able to tell by his 40-yard dash time. According to multiple reports, Restrepo ran his two 40s somewhere in the neighborhood of 4.7-5.1 seconds.

The first 40-yard dash time was reported to be in the 4.7-4.8 range. The 40-yard dash time for Restrepo was surprising to many given his size, tape, and the fact that earlier reports had projected his time at approximately 4.45 seconds, aligning with the expectations for slot receivers in the NFL. Standing at 5-foot-10-inches and weighing 209 pounds, Restrepo put himself into bad company given the 40-time and his size.

Restrepo did have the opportunity to redeem himself in later drills. He recorded a 4.21-second time in the short shuttle which was a more respectable time and a number that was more expected. His tape at Miami is undeniable. He recorded over 1,000 yards in each season for the Hurricanes and last year he put up 69 receptions for 1,127 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Later on Monday night Restrepo made a post on X responding to some of the chatter going on about his time. Other notable figures in sports media came to Restrepo's defense after the news came out. Robert Griffin III said in a post on X, "Xavier Restrepo’s 40 time DOESN’T MATTER. Restrepo played 90.5% of his snaps as slot merchant last year. Watch his tape and you will see he knows when he is open in man or zone and how to separate to win on ones. A QBs best friend for moving the chains."

Restrepo will get the opportunity to prove himself if needed during any one-on-one team meetings or workouts. The biggest story of the day may not have been Restrepo's 40-time but instead the presence of Cam Ward, the projected No. 1 overall pick. With the Tennessee Titans in attendance, Ward put on a show — one that Restrepo was a part of — and may have solidified his top spot position. The 2025 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 24 and runs through Saturday, April 26.
